Listeria monocytogenes kills 3 hospital patients in Kansas

The FDA says listeria bacteria were found in samples of Blue Bell Chocolate Chip Country Cookies, Great Divide Bars, Sour Pop Green Apple Bars, Cotton Candy Bars, Scoops, Vanilla Stick Slices, Almond Bars and No Sugar Added Moo Bars.

Listeria monocytogenes is dangerous and found in food products like raw milk products and raw chicken (one reason pregnant women are instructed to avoid soft cheeses). It's especially dangerous in immunocompromised folks. It mainly kills through rapid distribution through the body, can quickly infect the central nervous system causing, meningitis and/or encephalitis. Scary!
